PASTOR'S PERSPECTIVE

Dear Friends in Christ,

In a recent meeting with Rev. Richard Jorgensen, the Director for Evangelical Mission of the Lower Susquehanna Synod, council and evangelism committee members were introduced to the PAWN process. Through the focus of different lenses, the PAWN process explores Salem's Purpose, Assets, Wows, and Needs. Over the past few months, we've collectively dipped our toes into sharing the WOWS among us -- those moments and times we either notice God at work among us, OR the times we notice God noticing us. These WOWS may seem small, but they are rather significant and meaningful. The WOWS have included traveling safety and mercies, answered prayer, an unscripted opportunity, an overheard prayer for others.

We'll continue to explore the WOWS over the next few weeks in our time together. As we explore these WOW moments, take time to notice them within your life as well. I'm excited to see, hear, and share with you the WOWs we will experience together.

Pr. Jorgensen invited us to play "Tic Tac Toe". What does this game have to do with Salem and outreach and our purpose? Everything! Starting with Salem at the center of the board, those in attendance were asked to name various businesses and organizations close to Salem. Once the board was completed, we were given a project to do. The project is to interview these six businesses and organizations to see what they know about Salem along with ways we can best be of help for them.

At the July 28th Council meeting, Council discerned the next step is for a team to be created under the direction of PT. The team will be made up of no more than seven members of Salem, and starting with Council and Evangelism members. Teams of two will go into the community to begin community interviews. The six businesses and organizations started with are the Lititz Library, the Lancaster Airport, Lititz Fire and Police departments, Weis/Target, and the Kissel Hill Elementary School. There are others to be covered, and probably more to be added to the list.

I'm excited to see where this will lead Salem. There are opportunities unending, and paths as yet to be explored. Together, we'll continue "to transform the community and the world through living, loving, learning, and serving."

Blessings and grace,

+Pr. Traci
